Students have, through various interactive activities and discussions, expanded on this broad idea of identity, and have been asked to think carefully about such concepts as who am I as a sixth-grader, learner, group-member and friend. These conversations have also led to larger conversations about what we believe about learning and growing in the 6th grade. Discussions about our beliefs have allowed us to addres 2=This semester, students have been working hard with their advisors on weekly organizational, classroom and homework goals. Students now have the option of maintaining their written agenda, using their online agenda, or maintaining both to keep themselves organized. Students are also learning cooperative skills while having fun as they play games or engage in other interactive activities wi COMMENTS: Closing Sem 1 1=#E continues to put forth a lot of effort towards doing #h best, and I look forward to continue learning with #m for the rest of the year. 2=#N is a dynamic, eager learner who is intuitive and well spoken. #H positive, cooperative attitude makes #h a valued community member. 3=#N is a valuable member of our class, and is well liked by #h peers. 4=#N is a kind and respectful student; I look forward to continuing to work with #m for the rest of the year. 5=#N has the potential to make great strides next semester, and I am looking forward to consistent focus on #h academic needs. COMMENTS: Intro Sem One 1=It is a pleasure to have #N in humanities. Throughout the first quarter, we focused on the concept of identity through reflecting on who we are as readers and writers. In reading, we focused on retell and creating complex theories. In writing, we worked on our narrative writing skills by creating a memoir. In the second quarter, we moved into studying the history of human origins by practicing our informational reading and writing skills and trying to understand how the past informs our present. COMMENTS: Reading Pl Sem 1 1=During reading, I've noticed #N reading with volume and stamina. When #N writes responses about fiction, #e generates complex theories about characters and supports it with evidence from the text. I've noticed #m putting a lot of time and effort to plan #h responses and to explain how the examples relate to #h overall thesis. 2=#N has been reading with volume and stamina in class. #E writes responses to literature by determining the theme of the story and analyzes character development over the course of the plot. #E cites textural evidence to support #h thinking. #N keeps track of #s thinking by using #h notebook or sticky note and is working on citing evidence from the text to support #h thinking. 3=During non-fiction #N synthesizes as #e reads, and monitors #h comprehension by keeping track of #h thinking. 4=#N is s a conscientious student who contributes positively to class discussions.
