Through discussion, ~ developed ~ criteria for ~ design proposals and ^ suggested ways to proceed. ^ developed ~ making skills by learning to combine ~ components according to the taste, appearance or texture to create a product that contributed to a healthy diet. Through this activity # developed an awareness of ~ health and safety and learnt that the quality of ~ product depended on how well it was made and presented. " Investigation ^ understood of what a sandwich is and how to make one. ^ could record ~ opinions on a table, and ^ was able to comment on taste, appearance, smell and texture of different types of sandwiches. ^ was able to identify the different food groups in the 'balanced plate'. ^ could put commonly eaten foods in their correct food groups. ^ has a sound understanding of the appropriate terms used in food preparation and food products. " PracticalTasks ^ could identify the important aspects of ~ personal hygiene before ^ handled the food e.g. by washing ~ hands, keeping long hair tied back and wearing an apron. ^ was able to identify which foods should be kept in a fridge and why some foods are high risk. ^ used sharp tools correctly to ensure ~ own safety and accuracy in cutting. " Making ^ could apply what ^ had learnt during ~ investigation and practical tasks in ~ designing and making stages of the work. # identified that different sandwiches are created for different needs, occasions and purposes. ^ can use knowledge ^ had aquired from ~ research to choose ~ ingredients for the sandwich e.g. most people preferred brown bread so I chose this for my design. ^ could work through a sequence of tasks to produce a sandwich, making the appropriate modifications ^ showed that ^ had worked safely and hygienically in ~ preparation and ~ finishing to ensure a quality product. ^ could evaluate ~ sandwich and others' against ~ original design criteria.
